About

Appliance Fix Desk (appliancefixdesk.com) is a troubleshooting guide for
home appliances. When a washing machine flashes an error code or a
dishwasher stops draining, we publish one clear page for that exact
problem: what the code or symptom means, the likely causes in order, the
checks you can safely do yourself, the part that is usually involved, and
— just as important — when to stop and call a professional.

Who runs this site

Appliance Fix Desk is operated by SoftNest. The site’s content is
produced by our editorial desk, The Repair Desk — a team identity,
not a single person. We do not claim personal repair-trade credentials
we do not hold, and we do not publish invented first-hand repair stories.
What we do claim is a method, set out below, and we hold every page to it.

How our guides are made

  • Manufacturer first. Error-code meanings, reset procedures, and
part numbers are verified against the appliance manufacturer’s own
documentation or support pages before a guide is written. A code
meaning we cannot verify does not get published.
  • Everything else is a lead, not evidence. Forum threads, videos,
and community answers help us find what homeowners actually search
for, but they are never the source for a fact on this site.
  • Model-specific. Every guide states the models and generations it
applies to — the ones we actually checked. We never claim a fix covers
    “all” models of a brand.
  • Safety-classed. Every fix we describe is labelled DIY-safe or
call-a-professional. Gas work, mains-voltage electrical work, and
sealed refrigeration systems are professional jobs, and our guides say
so plainly. See our Disclaimer for the full position.
  • Checked before it ships. Each guide passes a documented review
against its sources before publication, and high-risk topics get a
    human spot-check as well.

Corrections

Manufacturers revise manuals and retire models. If a guide is wrong,
outdated, or missing a model variant, we want to know — contact us via
the site and we will verify the point against the manufacturer’s
documentation and correct the page. Verified facts on this site are
versioned, so a correction updates the guide without erasing the record
of what it originally said.

Money

Some pages link to replacement parts. If you buy through one of those
links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is set out
in full in our Affiliate Disclosure. It never changes what a guide
recommends: the part named is the part the manufacturer’s documentation
points to, whether or not a programme exists for it.
